~Get a Shout-out in a Video!~

Hey everyone! I just got a great idea to give shout-outs to channels (AG related only) in my videos! It is very simple to get one, all you have to do is:

1) Be subscribed to me
2) Either comment on this post or one of my YouTube videos requesting a shout-out and which one of my dolls you want me to use

It's super easy, and I will keep a list of who gets a shout-out next. I'll give a fun shout-out at the end of my videos and you also get to pick which doll(s) you want to give the shout-out:)

But HURRY! The list is only going to get longer! Just comment and let me know!

Saige Copeland: Review on her Collection

Hey everyone! So now that the new Girl of the Year 2013 is out and in stores, I thought I would tell you what I think about her.

I think she's very pretty (I love her freckles and curly reddish brown hair) but, sadly, I won't be purchasing her. I was kind of disappointed when I first saw the new doll because she looks just like Emily, the doll I just purchased. The only difference is the hair length and eye color. I want a diverse collection, where no two dolls are alike. I'm not sure if you've noticed, but I have purchased three Girl of the Year dolls in a row, (Lanie, Kanani, McKenna) and was looking forward to continuing this "tradition".

Next year, I hope AG comes out with an African-American doll because if you look at all the previous GOTY dolls, none of them are of a darker skin tone, only medium tones. I understand America Girl's best-sellers are dolls with blue eyes, blond hair, and light skin- but they have to switch it around a bit sometimes. How would they know if an African-American doll wouldn't sell as well anyways? So, please American Girl, make an African-American doll- I wouldn't hesitate to buy her!

Okay, enough talking, let's get started with my review!

Saige Doll & Book ~$110

The doll is very appealing, and her freckles just add more personality to her stories. Her hair is curly, and seems to be easy to take care of. It's a great length for styling and is a lot darker color than Nikki's hair, whom Saige has been compared to. Her eyes are a beautiful blue shade- not too dark and not too light. As I can tell, her eyes are very realistic looking and more of a darker shade than a light blue. As I said before, I absolutely love the freckles and they're perfect for her reddish hair. Another thing I like is that her ears are pierced and the earrings she comes with are removable, so you would be able to switch them out.

Her outfit is very unique- something I wouldn't expect American Girl to come out with. Featured on her indigo knit dress, there is a beautiful embroidered "belt". From the front, it appears to be a belt but it might not go all the way around to the back. AG says the "belt" is a geometric embroidery, reminiscent of southwestern art, which has to do with her story. The brown, tall boots are adorable and I love the wrap straps! They look like leather, and it really goes well with the embroidery on her dress. Saige comes with a turquoise ring and cute earrings, which AG hasn't included in their Girl of the Year dolls for while.

I like her artistic story but the horse/ranch part is a bit like previous GOTY Nikki. AG might think girls have forgotten Nikki, but the older doll collectors haven't. I'm not even a teen yet, but I still remember playing "ranch" with my friend's Nikki when I was younger- back in 2007.

Overall, I really like this doll and also the fact that she isn't another blond hair, blue eyed, light skinned doll. On American Girl's website, the reviews are 100% positive and when reading the lowest rated reviews, a few customers were saying the ring was falling off and wasn't great quality for the extremely high price (which is raising every year).

So, as I said, I would consider Saige, but she looks too much like Emily for me to actually purchase her. The doll also has accessories but it costs a whopping $28 for a purse, two necklaces, and some earrings! You're better off making your own doll jewelry or even buying it off Etsy.com rather than paying that ridiculous price.

Saige's Painting Set ~$48

The painting set has some really cool stuff but if you think about it, for almost $50, all you're really getting is some mini paintings, paper, and some paint brushes. If I wanted some mini paintings for Saige, I'd go to Micheal's or Joann's and buy mini canvases (they sell them) that are doll-sized and make your own unique painting! I know I'm not going to be spending my $48 on this.

Saige's Sweater Outfit ~$34

I actually like this set because it is so different from AG's other outfits. The pattern is really interesting and unique and I like how it is open in the front, though, many people are saying the outfit looks better online than in person. Even one of the one of the top 250 contributors, who has reviews featured all the time, gave a bad review- actually called it ugly!

Saige's Hot Air Balloon Set ~$150

The hot air balloon is a very creative idea, but I don't see much purpose for this set because the hot air balloon can't float- it just sits there. Girls might get super excited about this set, but get bored with it later because there really isn't much they can do with it. So not much play value in this set, although it would be great for stop-motions....but not for a ridiculous $150! That's more than a doll!

Saige's Parade Hat and Helmet ~$20

This "set" in my opinion, has the craziest price. I mean, who's going to spend 20 bucks on two little hats? Yeah, it's cute but you'll forget about that once you read the price tag.

Saige's Sparkle Dress ~$30

I really like this outfit because its pink and fun. I love how it also has a gold-foil, sparkle design all over the front of the dress that matches the golden cowboy boots. The dress and shoes are very detailed, and the silver cactus-flower necklace goes well with her story- and the outfit.
